Brickell Key Award Nominations

In 2010, at the Lean Software & Systems Conference, the Lean Software & Systems Consortium awarded David Joyce and Alisson Vale with the Brickell Key Award. The award is named after the island off Miami that is home to the Mandarin Oriental hotel where our community first met to form the consortium in May 2009.

The intent is that each year the Lean Software & Systems consortium will highlight excellence in our community with giving of the Brickell Key Award to two people who have shown outstanding achievement, leadership and contribution to our community whether at a online, or at local, national or global level.

Brickell Key Award

The award itself includes an engraved solid crystal trophy plus an allowance to travel to two international conferences over the next year (valued at up to $10,000 USD). Winners will also join the selection committee for future years and will be invited to chair a track at the 2012 conference as recognition for their achievement and stature in the community.

2011 Award Nomination Process

In 2011, we intend to be as transparent as possible throughout the award process. As a first step on this journey we are holding an open call for nominations. So if you know someone in our community whom you feel has demonstrated an outstanding achievement in the field of Lean (either with Kanban or not) in the field of software development, systems engineering or IT operations, and that person shows leadership and has been actively contributing to our community then we’d like to hear from you. Please submit all nominations via email to lssc@sep.com.

Once public nominations have closed, the selection committee will choose a the six most suitable suggestions and these will be published as the official nominees in early February 2011. During the following month, the selection committee will request further evidence from colleagues, clients, and community associates of the nominees. This evidence will then be evaluated by the selection committee and winners chosen.

The results will be announced at the Award Banquet Dinner on Thursday May 5th at the Hyatt Long Beach, California during the Lean Software & Systems Conference.

Board members and founders of the Lean Software & Systems Consortium are excluded from eligibility.
